Finding Good Service

By Sandy Davison

I am a stickler for accountability. One of the things that really “ticks” me off is people saying they are going to do something and they don’t. What could be worse than making arrangements with an employment agency (especially in this economy when people need jobs) whom has agreed to have their assigned representative call to introduce themselves and when they do they begin by apologizing that they are late in making that call. That, I believe, was a Tuesday.

Wednesday rolls around and I get a call and the agency’s assigned representative is on the phone, very nicely introducing themselves, sorry they are late in doing so, and begins to tell me that they will be faxing over 3 resumes the next day. Now, hope has been restored once again. The next day occurs, I am busy, and don’t realize until about 4:00 p.m. that day, no resumes, no calls.

Second day (Thursday) into this fiasco I tell myself, things can go wrong and maybe it is just one of those things were they are short staffed or the computers went down…pick whatever excuse you like. Once again my day is consumed with work and no calls, no faxes.

By this time, I have gone from discouragement, back up to a possible hopefulness, back down to total disgust with the service industry. I was taught to not make promises if you can’t keep them and I expect at least this much from the business world.

What's your pet peeve. What annoys you to no end?

I am a wife, mom and grandmother who loves her country and enjoys surfing the Internet. I will be retiring this summer and hope to contribute to the writing scene. I truly enjoy learning from others and hope to make my own contribution through writing.

Thank you for sharing this story, Sandy.
One of my pet peeves is people walking down the sidewalk, crossing on the crosswalk, walking through the grocery store and all of this while texting on their cell phones.
They are all irresponsible and not accountable for their lack of attention to others, or their own safety.
Best to you.
Frederick

I know what you mean Sandy, it's frustrating when you rely on people to keep their appointments and they don't.

I have so many Pet Peeves I created a lens about them on Squidoo - My Pet Peeves.

Liked the article. It's always good to know that you are not alone isn't it.
